A mother is special.

She's as soft and graceful as a butterfly,
yet as strong and courageous as a grizzly bear.

Her heart is large enough to hold everyone's pain and joy.
Her hands are always gentle and soothing.
Her arms are always warm and tender.

She works hard to make a home feel like home,
and she strives to make life pleasant
and comfortable for those she loves.
She never fails to go that extra mile to
make the holidays happy and memorable.

She's always there for her family,
guiding them and keeping them safe from harm.
Her sympathy,unselfishness and forgiveness are unending...

She's always watching and hoping that
her chidren's goals will have meaning.
She always listens and tries to understand
even when it's difficult to do so.
She's a true friend in every sense of the word.

She always shines bright like an evening star.
Her name should be honored well,
for she's the closest thing to God on earth.



저희 친정 어머니께서 만들어주신 1은물입니다.
저희 아이가 1은물을 들고 친정에 갔을때
"별 희안한 공도 다 있다"고 말씀하시고는 "감촉이 좋다"며"
속에 무엇을 넣었을까"를 제일 궁금해 하셨습니다.
저희 어머니 1은물 3개로 저글링을 한참 하시더니
(저희 아이 광분했었죠. 할머니가 삐에로 아저씨 같다며
저보고도 해보랍니다.어디 그게 아무나 하는 건가요?)
눈만 어둡지 않다면 당장 만들 수 있어 보인다고 하십니다.
설마 만들어 주시리라고는 생각도 못했었는데
5월 5일 어린이날 선물중에 친정 어머니표 1가베가 들어있었지요.
순간 눈물이 핑돌았습니다.
몇번이고 안경을 쓸어올리시며 눈이 어두워 코를 못잡고
지나간 세월의 흔적들을 안타까워 하셨을지도 모를
어머님의 모습이 떠올라서 한참을 만지작 거리기만했지요.
아이손에 쥐어 주시며 말씀하셨습니다.

그리고 굳이 검은색 털실을 선택한 이유를 말씀하셨습니다.
색깔을 알려주려고 만든 공 같은데
모든 색을 섞으면 검은색이 되고
검은색은 빛을 흡수하는 것으로 알고 있다
"원영이도 이다음에 커서도 다른 사람의 허물일랑은 이 검은색처럼 안보이게 덮어주고,
좋은점만을 받아들이도록 노력해야 한다."고 말씀하셔서
더한번 말문이 막혔더랬지요.
저는 때가 묻어도 표시 안나게 검은색으로 선택하신줄 알았었거든요.
언제쯤 저는 무늬만 엄마인 이름에서 벗어나
내리사랑의 길만 걸으신 그 수많은 어머니로 거듭날 수 있을까요?
아마도 지금 저의 상태로 봐서는 평생 어려울 것 같습니다.
